Is Lima worth visiting?

Absolutely.  Lima offers a rich blend of history, culture, and cuisine.  Founded in 1535 Lima was, for a time, one of the most important cities in the Americas.  Lima’s historical centre is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, so you can visit splendid samples of Colonial architecture surrounding the Plaza Mayor de Lima, like the Cathedral, the Convent of Santo Domingo, and the Convent of San Francisco.  You can admire the fantastic carved Archbishop's Palace, the oldest house in Lima, Casa Aliaga, the Government Palace where the changing of the guard takes place, and the 18th-century Torre Tagle Palace. Lima has a variety of museums, such as the Larco Museum, which showcases pre-Columbian art, and the National Museum of Archaeology.

Whether you're interested in history, food, or simply exploring vibrant neighbourhoods, Lima has something to offer!   Lima is renowned for its gastronomy, boasting world-class restaurants and a vibrant street food culture. Be sure to try ceviche!  Head to Miraflores for parks, shopping, and stunning ocean views, making it a great place to relax and explore, or Barranco, known for its bohemian vibe, you can experience local traditions, art, and music mixed between numerous independent coffee shops and cafes.
