About the Tour: 9 Days of Carnival in Rio and the Passion of Argentina

Top hightlights

This Latin America getaway gives you a rare shift of impressions: in nine days, you'll find yourself inside a Carnival night, step up to roaring cascades, and hear tango where it was born. This Brazil and Argentina tour takes you across two countries, but you won't have to piece together flights, transfers, and excursions yourself. The route is already put together, airport meet-ups are arranged, and you can choose your hotel category. First, you'll feel the energy of Rio. A Brazil Carnival tour leads you to the Sambadrome, where drums resonate in your chest and thousands of dancers pass before the stands. You'll see the Final Carnival Parade in Rio – the tickets are already booked. In the following days, you'll ascend Sugarloaf and Corcovado. Your Brazil Carnival package delivers its climax – glowing floats, hundreds of costumes, and dancing that doesn't stop until morning. Then the combined Brazil – Argentina tour carries you to Iguazu. With an Iguazu Falls tour, you'll experience both banks: you'll see the entire chain of cascades and step up to the Devil's Throat. And in Buenos Aires, old neighborhoods, wide avenues, and a tango show with dinner await.

At the Carnival Finale, you'll watch the best samba schools dance. Thousands of performers move as one formation, yet every dancer lives the music with their whole body. You'll follow the rapid footwork, the gleam of costumes, and the smiles of people who spent a whole year preparing for this night, and their excitement and joy become yours.
On a Sugarloaf Mountain tour in Rio, you'll rise first to Urca, then higher to the main platform. The Pao de Acucar cable car carries you above the slope with mesmerizing views of the sea and city. From the summit, you'll take in the curve of Copacabana, yachts in the bay, the Niterói Bridge, the islands, and Rio itself.
During the Corcovado train ride, you'll pass through the damp Tijuca Forest, watching the city and bay flash between the branches. At the summit, you'll approach Christ the Redeemer – the city's symbol. Tilt your head back and stand for a few minutes beneath those open arms, gazing again and again at the lively, endlessly varied Rio.
You'll see Iguazu from two perspectives. On the Brazilian side, you'll take in the entire chain of cascades. On the Argentine side, you'll walk along catwalks above the river, step closer to the falling water, and feel cool spray on your face.
After the falls, you can take an optional walk near the entrance to Iguazu National Park. At the Bird Park, you'll step inside spacious aviaries to get a close look at stunningly bright birds. A toucan may perch almost at eye level, and macaws will fly overhead so close you can hear the beat of their wings.
In Buenos Aires, the city tour reveals itself in contrasts: the colorful facades of La Boca, the antique shops of San Telmo, and modern Puerto Madero. You'll see how European architecture merges with the city's port character, and feel its lively, independent rhythm.
At Plaza de Mayo, you'll see Buenos Aires from its official side. Pause before the Casa Rosada – the presidential palace – take in the pink facade, the cathedral, and the old administrative buildings. As you look around, office workers and locals pass by: the country's main square lives out an ordinary weekday.
At a tango show in Buenos Aires, a live orchestra and the sharp click of heels will sweep you up. Dancers move in a close embrace, suddenly freeze, and make the whole room wait for the next step. Tango with dinner in Buenos Aires rounds off the evening with traditional dishes and Argentine wines.

Group Carnival Itinerary – Day by Day

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Meeting Brazil's Tourism Capital

You'll be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. Welcome to your group Carnival tour! Your first evening is free: rest up, then take a stroll. Tonight, you set the pace. Scan the menu, order something unfamiliar, grab a fresh juice. It's nice to sit at a table and feel the vacation has begun, suitcase still unpacked.

You can head to Copacabana Beach: fun for watching runners and volleyball players.

Rio pulls visitors in with its street life. Linger at a fruit stand, peek into a cafe, listen to nearby conversations. People come on a Rio Carnival tour for the parade, but today, order what locals are having and enjoy Brazilian food.

Tomorrow, Carnival in Rio won't let you sleep till morning. For now, wander the city and soak up the pre-parade buzz.
Day 1. Arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Meeting Brazil's Tourism Capital -0

Day 2. Rio de Janeiro. Sugarloaf Mountain and Old Rio Tour. Evening - Champions' Parade

After breakfast, the cable car lifts you to Urca and Sugarloaf Mountain. From above, you'll see the curve of Copacabana, the bay, and the Niterói Bridge. Then a drive through the old center: colonial facades, churches, monasteries, and the city cathedral. After the tour, rest at your hotel.

In the evening, the Rio Sambadrome awaits.

The Champions' Parade begins - a performance by the winners of the main competition. The Samba School Parade in Rio lasts all night, as dancers spent a year preparing and sewing Rio Carnival costumes to now pass before the stands in a victory dance. They move with astonishing ease, feet barely touching the ground, smiles never fading.

You'll see how Brazil's samba schools turn dance into a procession: thousands of performers hold a single pattern under the thunder of drums. Floats glide past, feathers rise with every turn, and the crowd picks up the rhythm. When the best Brazilian samba schools appear, staying seated is almost impossible.

After the parade, transfer back to your hotel.
Day 2. Rio de Janeiro. Sugarloaf Mountain and Old Rio Tour. Evening - Champions' Parade -1

Day 3. Rio de Janeiro. Corcovado Tour to Christ the Redeemer. City Panorama

After breakfast, the Corcovado train awaits. It climbs slowly, almost brushing the branches, and outside the windows, Rio's Tijuca Forest unfolds - damp, dense, filled with unfamiliar bird calls. Sometimes rooftops and water flash between the trees, but the real view waits at 710 meters.

At the summit, Christ the Redeemer rises before you. Up close, its 38-meter figure looks nothing like the photos. Beneath the open arms, you can see Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf, Maracanã, and the Niterói Bridge. Here you'll want to put the phone away and just stand, taking in the city between mountains and ocean.

In your free evening, head to the Arpoador rocks. Settle in and send off the sun with the locals - the last rays fall on the water, and the crowd applauds the sunset.

We suggest dinner at Marius - excellent fresh seafood. Pair it with a classic Brazilian caipirinha - cold, tart, with lime.
Day 3. Rio de Janeiro. Corcovado Tour to Christ the Redeemer. City Panorama -2

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro - Foz do Iguazu

After breakfast, you'll be taken to the airport for your flight to Foz do Iguaçu. A driver will meet you and take you to your chosen hotel. This is where a Brazil, Iguazu, and Argentina tour shifts from Carnival Rio to one of the continent's most powerful natural spectacles.

Millions of years ago, lava flowed here. It cooled in layers, forming a basalt plateau. The Iguazu River gradually eroded cracks and softer rock until the water began to plunge over stone ledges. Erosion continues today, slowly pushing the edge of the falls upstream.

Iguazu Falls in Brazil and Argentina are unique also because two national parks sit side by side. The river breaks into several hundred streams, with individual jets falling from heights of up to 72 meters. Your South America tour will show them tomorrow. You'll hear the constant roar, see the mist cloud over the canyon, and understand why the name Iguazu translates as "big water."
Day 4: Rio de Janeiro - Foz do Iguazu -3

Day 5. Foz do Iguaçu. Brazilian Side of the Falls. Devil's Throat

After breakfast, you'll head into the national park. The Brazilian side of Iguazu keeps the falls at a distance at first: the trail runs along the canyon, and individual white streams appear through the trees. With each turn, there are more. You'll gradually see the entire curve of the river and grasp how vast the chain of cascades really is.

For those on group tours to Brazil, the trip is guided. Your guide will lead you along the route and point out the best viewpoints, leaving you free to watch, listen, and step closer. The calm water upstream suddenly drops over basalt ledges, the roar intensifies, and mist hangs in the air. A scale that's hard to fit even in a wide-angle lens.

The day's main encounter is the Devil's Throat, a waterfall plunging into the canyon from up to 72 meters. On the walkway, spray reaches your face, and you have to shout to be heard. It's hard to leave right away: you want to stand at the railing a little longer and watch the greenish river vanish into the roaring white depths.
Day 5. Foz do Iguaçu. Brazilian Side of the Falls. Devil's Throat -4

Optional: Macuco Safari*

The Macuco Safari begins with a jungle ride in an open jeep. Over 3 kilometers, the road dips several times under dense canopy, while your guide explains which plants and animals live in the area. Then you walk to the riverbank and board a motorboat.

From this point, a calm outing turns into a real adventure. The boat picks up speed, the air grows wetter, and the roar of the falls drowns out conversation. The boat approaches the cascades so closely that spray flies over the sides. You'll laugh, cover your face with your hands, and still try to make out the white wall of water ahead. Staying dry is nearly impossible, so it's best to protect your phone and documents from water in advance.

Among Iguazu excursions, this one is especially good for those who want more than a viewing platform. Here you feel the power of the falls with your whole body.

Price: USD 135 per person.
Optional: Macuco Safari* -5

Optional: Iguazu Bird Park*

The Bird Park is next to the entrance of Iguazu National Park, making it easy to add to your falls trip. Here you won't be watching birds through fine mesh from afar. The paths run inside spacious aviaries, among dense tropical greenery, where the residents fly freely from branch to branch.

Scarlet ibises and macaws may flash overhead, and a toucan may settle almost at eye level. Sometimes a bird lands quite close, turns its bright beak, and calmly studies the visitors. You'll want to stop, pull out your camera, and wait for one more wingbeat.

This walk is especially appealing for those who want to spend time among greenery after the roar of the falls and see tropical birds at arm's length.

Price: USD 65 per person.
Optional: Iguazu Bird Park* -6

Optional: Helicopter Flight Over the Falls*

From a helicopter, you'll see Iguazu as a whole. After takeoff, the tropical forest drops away quickly, and the river appears between the trees. From the ground, the falls reveal themselves one by one, sometimes only around the next bend. From the air, hundreds of streams instantly form one enormous arc.

You'll see how the calm riverbed splits around islands, reaches the basalt edge, and breaks into white cascades. A cloud of mist hangs permanently over the Devil's Throat, and further on, the river gathers again in the canyon. Only from above do you understand how much space this natural labyrinth occupies and how closely forest and water sit together.

During the flight, you'll want to look in both directions at once: one view replaces another too quickly. Have your camera ready, but be sure to leave a few minutes without shooting. Just look down and remember how white cascades cut through solid green.

Price: USD 170 per person.
Optional: Helicopter Flight Over the Falls* -7

Day 6. Foz do Iguaçu. Argentine Side of the Falls. Flight to Buenos Aires.

After breakfast, you'll cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge and head into the park with your guide. The Argentine side of Iguazu offers three routes, each bringing you closer to the water in its own way.

The Upper Circuit runs above the cascades. The river still seems calm, but a few steps later, it drops away right beneath your feet. The Lower Circuit descends along the slope: from here, the falls are visible from the side and below, and spray reaches the walkways. The third route starts with a ride on the ecological train. Then catwalks lead across the wide riverbed to the Devil's Throat. At the edge, only the roar of water and a white veil remain before your eyes.

This is how a Brazil and Argentina tour shows Iguazu from two opposite banks - the full panorama and rare close-up views. After the walk, you'll be taken to the airport. The flight ends with a driver meet-and-greet and transfer to your hotel. Your Buenos Aires tour begins - excursions through its old and modern districts start in the morning.
Day 6. Foz do Iguaçu. Argentine Side of the Falls. Flight to Buenos Aires. -8

Day 7. Buenos Aires. City Tour. La Boca, San Telmo, Plaza de Mayo, Recoleta. Evening - Tango Show

After breakfast, your guide will introduce you to the city (3 hrs). First, Buenos Aires: La Boca with its colorful facades and old port memory. Then the route passes through San Telmo. It's quieter here: cobblestone streets, small bars, and antique shops keep the mood of the old neighborhoods.

At Plaza de Mayo, Buenos Aires turns formal and official. Here stands the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace tied to Argentina's most important historical events. Along the way, you'll see the Obelisk, rising where the famous 9 de Julio Avenue runs. The tour also covers Recoleta, Puerto Madero, and the city parks.

In the evening, an Argentine tango show with dinner awaits. The couple moves in a close embrace, the orchestra quickens the pace, heels strike a sharp rhythm. The audience follows every turn of the head. Then the dancers freeze, and the room falls silent with them for a second. Dinner is included: the performance comes with traditional dishes and Argentine wines.
Day 7. Buenos Aires. City Tour. La Boca, San Telmo, Plaza de Mayo, Recoleta. Evening - Tango Show -9

Day 8. Buenos Aires. Free Day.

The day stays free for self-guided walks and optional excursions. If you want to trade city streets for water and greenery, head north of the capital.
Day 8. Buenos Aires. Free Day. -10

Optional Excursions: Tigre*

The day stays free for self-guided walks and optional excursions. If you want to trade city streets for water and greenery, head north of the capital.

Tigre, Argentina: a full-day excursion. Your journey starts with a drive through the northern suburbs. Along the way, the group stops in San Isidro, a calm and intimate area. You'll walk through the historic part, see old houses, and feel how quickly life changes beyond the center.

Then you'll continue to Tigre and board a boat. The Tigre river delta consists of many branches and canals, with green islands in between. From the water, you can see private houses, small docks, and locals' boats. Here, boats replace the usual city transport. It's pleasant to sit by the side, follow the river's turns, and notice how the capital's noise finally fades away.

Shared group tour with an English-speaking guide: USD 100 per person.
 Optional Excursions: Tigre* -11

Optional Excursion to Montevideo, Uruguay*

Early in the morning, you'll be taken to the port. The Buenos Aires to Montevideo ferry crosses the wide waters of the Rio de la Plata, and within a few hours, you're in another country. Tickets are included.

A guide will meet you on arrival. Montevideo, Uruguay: a city tour by vehicle. The route connects the port, Independence Square, the center, the Old City, and the cathedral. Stone facades, small squares, and old quarter streets differ from bustling Buenos Aires.

In Uruguay, Montevideo's sights begin right at the port, but after the tour, you'll have time for personal discoveries. You can return to a square you liked, drop into a cafe, or stroll before the ferry departs. In the evening, you'll cross the Rio de la Plata again, and at the Buenos Aires port, a driver will meet you and take you back to your hotel.

Shared group tour with an English-speaking guide: USD 500 per person. Private tour with an English-speaking guide: USD 850 per person, minimum two participants.
Optional Excursion to Montevideo, Uruguay* -12

Optional Excursion: Fiesta Gaucha Ranch*

The Fiesta Gaucha excursion in Argentina takes a full day. You'll head out of town to a ranch where you'll learn about the traditions of people whose lives were tied to horses and cattle. The ranch is about 80 kilometers from Buenos Aires.

At the gaucho ranch in Argentina, an equestrian show awaits. Riders demonstrate how confidently they sit in the saddle, control a horse at speed, and work with a lasso. You'll also see boleadoras - stones connected by straps, once used by gauchos to catch cattle. In the rider's hands, they spin overhead, and it's hard to look away from the precision of every movement.

The program includes a traditional Argentine lunch. At the table, you can discuss what you've seen and try local dishes, then continue exploring the music and folklore of rural Argentina.

Duration: 8 hours. Shared group tour with an English-speaking guide. Price: USD 350 per person.
Optional Excursion: Fiesta Gaucha Ranch* -13

Day 9. Transfer to Buenos Aires Airport. Departure Home

After breakfast, there's time to close your suitcase and look back on the trip. In Latin America, one vacation sounds many ways: in samba drums, in the roar of waterfalls, and in the long pause of a tango. Your Brazil Carnival tour gave you a night at the Sambadrome, when the stands picked up the drum rhythm and dancers passed by in shimmering costumes. Rio will be remembered for the view from Sugarloaf, the train through the Tijuca Forest, and Christ's open arms above the city.

Then came Iguazu. From the Brazilian bank, you took in the chain of cascades; from the Argentine side, you walked over the water to the Devil's Throat. Spray reached your face, and the roar made conversation impossible. Buenos Aires replaced that roar with music: the colorful facades of La Boca, Plaza de Mayo, and tango, where a single pause silences the room.

May this Brazil and Argentina getaway keep warming your soul and returning as vivid memories. This South America tour ends with a transfer: at the appointed time, a driver will take you to the airport for your flight home.
Day 9. Transfer to Buenos Aires Airport. Departure Home -14

Buenas noches Viera.

Pavel, good afternoon!
My name is Marina Ryzhuk. A few weeks ago, our VIP group from St. Petersburg visited Rio with you. I believe you remember them well.
I’d like to thank you for your excellent work with our rather demanding guests. After the trip, they spoke very highly of your services. Our particularly important gentlemen especially appreciated your personal approach — you managed to find a special way to connect with them.
Through your tours, they were able to truly feel the city, which is absolutely priceless on such trips.
Thank you!

Anna, thank you very much on behalf of our tourists, the Chubar family, who visited in February.
They praised your excellent and well-organized work and were very pleased!
They said everything was as precise as with the Germans :)
REVIEW №13- Mikhail and Elena Leksikov
Good afternoon, we were in Rio de Janeiro March 15–17, 2020. Not for long, but it was very full of experiences.
The driver who met us at the airport, to our joy, spoke English and even a little Russian. He pointed out where we could walk and eat.
The next day we met Eleonora, a GUIDE and a Person with a capital P. We were lucky to visit Corcovado and see Brazil’s main symbol. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to Sugarloaf Mountain due to the coronavirus quarantine.
Instead of the canceled excursion, Eleonora gave us an impromptu city tour. She tells stories in an interesting way, knows a lot, but doesn’t overwhelm with facts, shows where the best photo spots are, and even took pictures herself. Thanks to her, we managed to get coffee and souvenirs—it turned out not so easy to find what we wanted.
She was very caring and concerned for us—even after we went to Búzios, she kept checking how we were, suggesting where to go and what to see and buy.

A very close-knit, friendly team, always ready to help.
REVIEW №14- Nikita, Saga Tour Operator
Good afternoon, Alexandra!
Thank you very much for the organization and support.
The tourist was very happy and said everything was top-notch :)
Paraty is definitely a place to recommend—it leaves no one indifferent. Porto Real is probably in the best spot on that coast.

Thank you!
Wishing you success in everything!

Alexandra!
Our clients have returned, very satisfied.
They left a special review about the guide in Quito:
In Quito, we had a wonderful guide named David.
During our three-day visit to Quito, your guide David was with us. He made our stay in Quito rich, interesting, and unforgettable. Not only does he know a lot about the city, the country, and its nature, he is also a truly interesting person himself. Our three days were filled with conversations about everything. Our knowledge of Ecuador is now practically encyclopedic—we learned so much. And the most important part was that it all happened through engaging discussions.
We’d like to highlight his punctuality, his thoughtfulness, and his attention to detail. His advice on restaurants and places to walk during our free time was invaluable. We’ve met many guides—this is the 103rd country we’ve visited. We don’t always get so lucky with a guide, but David was exceptional. Thank you to him and to all of you!!!

THANK YOU FOR THE EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION.
REVIEW №17- Elena and Evgeny

Dear colleagues, good afternoon!
I want to thank you for handling our group – a large and challenging one, with a very intense program – which you managed to organize and host at the highest level. Tremendous work – thank you so much, ladies!
Months of preparation, countless changes and additions – I know what it all cost us – but everything turned out perfectly. Thank you for your attention and patience.

A poem dedicated to the Ada Tours guide!
In Rio, where sunlight meets golden skies,
Our guide Paulo greets us with kind, warm eyes.
He knows the whole city, where secrets lie deep,
And welcomes each guest with joy that’s sincere.
“Come on,” he says, “to Corcovado,
Christ calls you up to heaven’s shadow.
Then on to the beach, where waves beat the shore,
Copacabana invites us once more.”

Paulo will show us where samba resides,
Where Brazil’s true heartbeat endlessly thrives.
In favelas he sees not poverty, but life,
Where sparks of hope conquer struggle and strife.

With a smile, he leads us along every way,
Paulo’s our friend, our golden pathway.
A Brazilian guide, a master of wonder,
With him, Rio feels closer to heaven’s splendor.

This poem is from me, for you.

Good afternoon, Alexandra.
I want to thank you for organizing our vacation.
Our guides were simply outstanding – top class.
Pavel knows so much about Brazil and Rio in particular. He’s very easy to talk to, communicates effortlessly with people, is always learning something new, and gladly shares his knowledge. An excellent guide and a wonderful person.
And Tiago – we spent two days with him. He’s amazing. Even after 18 years of work, he hasn’t lost the ability to genuinely admire the beauty of the waterfalls. He still takes photos like it’s the first time.
With your guides, it’s never boring! Thank you once again!!!
