Day 4: Rio de Janeiro
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for independent walks or additional excursions: Botanical Garden The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It was founded by Portuguese King João VI in 1808, shortly after his arrival from Portugal. Every day, this green oasis offers peace and tranquility. All the avenues are lined with centuries-old palm trees, and an amazing collection of subtropical and tropical plants from around the world is gathered here. Some of the plant specimens here belong to endangered species. The Royal Giant Water Lilies (Lago das Vitórias Régias) in the lake are particularly captivating. Along the pathways leading to the pond, you may encounter monkeys. In total, the garden boasts 5000 varieties of plants from around the world. The Botanical Garden is rightfully considered one of the most picturesque corners of Rio de Janeiro. Duration of the excursion: 4 hours Trip to Tropical Islands Early in the morning, you will head to the Angra dos Reis region (about 3 hours from Rio). There, you will embark on a boat journey to tropical islands! You will see unique landscapes and luxurious beaches. It's common to spot playful dolphins, giant fish, parrots, turtles, and poisonous stingrays. The schooner stops in the sea for those who want to swim. A magnificent buffet lunch awaits you on the island. A walk around the island, swimming in the bay or pool - time flies unnoticed! Duration of the excursion: 8 hours Night in Rio: Mulatto Show You will spend an unforgettable night in Rio! Accompanied by a guide, you will leave the hotel to watch a show full of vibrant Brazilian dances: samba and capoeira performed by very graceful and beautiful mulattoes. During the show, you can order dinner. After the show ends, you will return to the hotel with the guide. Duration: 4 hours Royal Petropolis Petropolis is a city located in the mountains, 60 km from Rio de Janeiro. King Pedro II bought land here in 1830 and built a summer palace to bring his sick daughter here, as the hot climate of Rio de Janeiro was harmful to her. The famous Imperial Palace was built in 1862, and now it houses a museum, but the interior of the Palace is preserved. The royal palace contains many antique furniture and items of the royal family's daily life, which are now displayed in the museum. Here are also kept treasures, such as a golden crown adorned with diamonds and pearls. You will visit the Gothic Cathedral, where Princess Isabel, King Pedro II, and his wife are buried, and then head to the Royal Museum. European architects built many buildings here, beautiful examples of German architecture.
