Day 5: Campeche – Uxmal - Merida (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Before continue our trip, we will visit some of the highlight’s points of this beautiful city like its Historic Center, the heart of the city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, marvel at the well-preserved colonial architecture, pastelcolored facades and narrow cobblestone streets. Visit the stunning Cathedral, an iconic landmark that showcases Spanish baroque architecture, its ornate interior and impressive façade are a testament to the city’s rich history. You will also visit some others points of interest like the Malecon and the Baluartes, a series of fortified bastions that once defended the city. We will visit Uxmal, one of the most outstanding archaeological sites in the region; this ancient Maya complex is known for its majestic architecture, ingenious design and rich history. The buildings are constructed of limestone and feature elaborate hand-carved facades that include intricate geometric designs and depictions of gods and feathered serpents.
The main landmark is the Pyramid of the Soothsayer, a stepped structure with an unusual slope and a panoramic view from its top. Afterward continuation to Merida a charming and historic city located in the Yucatán Peninsula of México known for its rich cultural heritage and colonial architecture, it offers a unique blend of Mayan and Spanish influences. The city boasts well-preserved colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and a vibrant town center. The focal point of the city is the Plaza de la Independencia, which is flanked by the fortress-like Catedral de Mérida and the white limestone Iglesia de la Tercera Orden.
