Most visitors to Peru will fly into Lima, so plan to at least spend the day here, if not a couple of nights. There are many ways to explore Lima- you can rent bikes and explore the different historical sights, street art, and districts like Miraflores, Barranco, and Chorrillos, all along the sea with beautiful coastline views. And of course a big draw to Lima is its incredible cuisine, influenced by Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, West African, and regional Amazonian cooking styles. And there is no shortage of places to indulge in some fresh Peruvian ceviche and the nice local cocktail Pisco Sour, if not choosing to do a culinary tour of the city’s delectable secret spots and local favorites. Other options for exploring are the open-air bus which is a hop on/hop off. Another popular option are the free walking tours (tipping required) for those who like to explore on foot.
