Tierra del Fuego.
To this day, there are no other versions of the origin of this territory's name. Specifically, "Tierra del Fuego"—a name given by the great explorer of many unknown lands, Magellan—was inspired by the sight of numerous fires on the shore as he observed from the deck of his ship. He assumed that these were volcanic eruptions and naturally named the coast "Tierra del Fuego" (Land of Fire). In reality, it was the local indigenous people who were lighting bonfires along the shore at night.
