Los Llanos

Wild West meets the Serengeti - Los Llanos is a land of cowboys and capybaras. Situated between the soul-stirring sky and the endless plains are two jewels of Los Llanos: the spectacular bird and animal life, and the rugged world of llaneros (Venezuelan cowboys), with the hypnoticly fast finger-picking of joropo music, and the lively coleo , the local version of a rodeo.
Not only does Los Llanos has herds of capybara, slithering caimans, and skies full of scarlet ibis, it's also home to Venezuala's patron saint, Virgen de Coromoto, who miraculously appeared more than 350 years ago; the astonishing cathedral now draws pilgrims from every corner of the country.
