Vacation in Peten

Peten, the cradle of the Maya!

All the legends about one of the most amazing cultures in the world originated in Peten. Its fascinating archaeological sites are surrounded by jungle. One of these sites is Tikal, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Here you can explore Yaksha, Seibal, Aguateca, San Bartolo and El Mirador, where the largest Mayan pyramid is located. Another interesting place is considered to be Uaxaktun, where the astrological observatory was located. These places clearly show the cultural development of the Maya. The legendary quetzal bird lives here - it lived before the Aztec and Mayan tribes, who considered Quetzal the patron saint of the air, a symbol of goodness and light.
