Bonito

BONITO, A PARADISE IN THE SOUTH OF THE PANTANAL

Bonito

Located in the south border of Pantanal, Bonito is a unique reserve. In Portuguese, the word Bonito means beautiful, too modest to describe the totality of the beauty of this exotic area. The natural beauties in Bonito include caverns with deep azure lakes inside, incredibly clear rivers that work as natural aquariums, hundreds of waterfalls and much more.

EXCURSIONS TO BONITO

Excursions to caves and lakes of Bonito

Bonito is a paradise in the south of the Pantanal. The Blue Lake Cave is the most famous destination in the outside of Bonito. Stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes grow towards each other. The lake occupies a significant part of the cave, and although from a scientific point of view it is possible to explain its amazing color due to a certain angle of sunlight, yet the effect of a surprisingly blue color is amazing. The Blue Lake Cave is one of the largest and oldest flooded caves in the world. In 1992, an expedition of Brazilian paleontologists discovered the fossilized remains of mammals buried at the bottom of the cave - the prehistoric skeletons of a giant sloth and a saber-toothed tiger.

Activities and experiences in Bonito

Discover Bonito -the pearl of ecotourism in Brazil!

The most famous activities are snorkeling and swimming down these clear rivers accompanied by a big variety of fishes and surrounded by amazing sub-aquatic vegetation. Other good experiences are hiking and biking through trails in the forest, learning about the different species of centenarian trees and other forms of vegetation until you get to marvelous waterfalls where you can swim and refresh from the hiking. When exploring the caverns (there are more than 80, dry and flooded), you will be able to see the beautiful composition that stalactites and stalagmites make on the ceiling of the caves, as well as down the water of the big lakes formed inside them.
