Its main tourist attraction is the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. It can be divided into two parts, in the north and south, with El Calafate on Lago Argentino as the gateway. The park is the second largest in Argentina, extending about 170 km along the Chilean border and covering about 759,000 hectares. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. About 40% of the park is covered by gigantic ice fields, with 47 main glaciers, 13 of which flow east down the park to feed the two great lakes, Lake Viedma, in north and Lago Argentino in the south. There are also about 190 smaller glaciers that are not connected to the ice fields. All together a great show that you have to see. And when you’re tired from all the sightseeing and adventuring, explore the town and its artisan markets, or have a craft beer at a local brewery. Remember to try some of the famous Patagonian lamb while you’re here. You can also visit one of the several resorts in the region, including "Chateau Y Relais".
