Day 1: Rio de Janeiro

Arrival day in Rio de Janeiro! A driver will be waiting for you at the international airport of Rio de Janeiro to transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to discover the city or enjoy your first day at the beautiful beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro is green hills, blue sky, beautiful bays, islands and marvelous beaches. It is the second biggest city in Brazil (after Sao Paulo) and, certainly, one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Beach hotels are situated along the whole perimeter of Guanabara Bay and, if you are staying in one of these hotels, the beauties of Rio de Janeiro are open for you all the time. Blue ocean water will call you to the beach. The most popular beaches - Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, are famous for their black and white tiled promenade. From early morning to late in the night you can see people playing soccer and volleyball on the golden sand of the beaches. For those who prefer active holidays, Rio offers opportunities to practice almost any sport: golf, tennis, surfing, rafting, diving, delta flight and many others. Numerous open cafeterias on the beach will offer you refreshing coconut water, freshly squeezed juices and other drinks. You can also see presentations of local musicians on the beach playing all kinds of music.

Day 2: Rio de Janeiro

Breakfast. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby. City tour and excursion to Sugarloaf Mountain (4 hours) with a guide. We head to Praia Vermelha (Red Beach). From there, you'll take a special cable car road to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. The first stop will be on Urca Hill, which has a wide viewing platform. At the very top of Sugarloaf Mountain, there is a smaller platform, but it offers a stunning view of Rio, Copacabana Beach, the bay, the surrounding mountains, islands in the ocean, the bridge to the city of Niterói, and the statue of Christ. Then, you will visit the central areas of old Rio, where you will admire several ancient churches, monasteries, the city's main cathedral, as well as buildings constructed in the colonial style. *Due to the city's congestion and street closures related to the Carnival, the city tour route may be adjusted.

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro

Free time. We recommend you rest well and prepare for the Carnival. In the evening, you will experience a fantastic, grand spectacle—the long-awaited Carnival! From the hotel, we will head to the Sambadrome, the venue of the world-famous show. Before you, in all their splendor and unique costumes, representatives of Brazil's most renowned samba schools will parade. The festivities last all night! After the parade (it is possible to leave earlier), we will take you back to the hotel to rest after the exciting events.

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro

Breakfast. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby. Excursion to Corcovado Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue (4 hours) with a guide. Arrival at the station, where we take a special open, eco-friendly train through the jungle to the top of Corcovado Hill. On both sides of the road, you’ll see the breathtaking views of Tijuca Forest. At the top of Corcovado Hill, 710 meters above sea level, stands the symbol of Rio—the Christ the Redeemer statue (38 meters tall), erected in 1931. From the observation deck, you’ll enjoy a stunning panorama of the metropolis and its surroundings: the bridge to Niterói, Guanabara Bay, the Botanical Garden, the world’s largest stadium Maracanã, Sugarloaf Mountain, and much more.

Day 5: Rio de Janeiro – Foz do Iguaçu

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Foz do Iguaçu. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your chosen hotel.

Day 6: Foz do Iguaçu

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to the Brazilian side of the waterfalls with a guide. Iguazu Falls, located at the border of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, consist of 275 enormous water streams cascading from a great height. The falls are situated within a national park known for its unique flora and fauna, created by volcanic eruptions and shifting earth plates. The name "Iguazu" translates from Guarani as "big water." The 275 waterfalls, each with its own name, thunderously plunge into the "Devil's Throat" gorge. There is a striking contrast between the calm, even lazy flow of the Iguazu River above the falls and the powerful torrents of water crashing down 72 meters into the abyss. You can spend hours gazing at this spectacle, contemplating the grandeur and eternity of our universe. Additionally, you can order a visit to the Bird Park ($50 per person). It is located near Iguazu National Park. You will enter large aviaries where among the tropical forest, stunning and exotic birds of various colors fly or walk freely. Additionally, you can order the "Macuco Safari" trip ($130 per person). You will travel through the jungle in an open jeep for about 3 kilometers, accompanied by a guide who will share interesting facts about the region's ecology. Then you will walk to the Iguazu River shore, where a motorboat will take you close to the waterfalls. Expect sprays and rainbows, lots of excitement, and unique photographs.

Day 7: Foz do Iguaçu – Buenos Aires

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to the Argentine side of the waterfalls with an English -speaking guide. You will reach the Argentine side of the falls via the Tancredo Neves Bridge over the Iguazu River. The Argentine side is different from the Brazilian side—here, you will be both above and below the waterfalls. You will feel the power of the falling water up close and enjoy the natural park surrounding this magnificent beauty! You will see the origin of the "Devil's Throat." The numerous paths and walkways, created by human hands, allow you to observe this natural phenomenon from very close distances. After the excursion, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival in Buenos Aires. Transfer with a driver from the airport to the hotel.

Day 8: Buenos Aires

Breakfast at the hotel. City tour (3 hours) with an English -speaking guide. You will see a unique capital city and experience the legendary centuries-old culture of Argentina—a blend of history and art. Buenos Aires is home to most of Argentina's attractions. The elegance of the architecture is comparable only to Paris, but the city is unique in its beauty. Buenos Aires is widely known for its numerous museums, and art enthusiasts will find a wealth of diverse museums, galleries, theaters, and architectural monuments here. The main attractions of the city include the old neighborhood of La Boca, the historic San Telmo district, where you will find numerous large and small bars, restaurants, and an authentic antique market at Plaza Dorrego. The true heart of Buenos Aires is the central Plaza de Mayo—the largest shopping center in the world. Also among the main attractions of the city is the "Pink House" (Casa Rosada, the presidential palace), associated with the name of Evita Peron, and many other monumental landmarks. Among them is the city's symbol—the 67-meter obelisk erected in honor of Argentina's declaration of independence, standing on the world's widest street, Avenida 9 de Julio. You will also visit the elegant Recoleta district with its famous cemetery, the colonial-style El Pilar Church, and the nearby cultural and commercial center. The tour program also includes visits to the modern areas of the city: Puerto Madero and the parks of Lezama and 3 de Febrero. In the evening, you will attend a Tango Show (with dinner, without a guide). Tango is immensely popular worldwide, but Argentina has one undeniable advantage—it originated here. The amazing world of tango. The dance on stage, with its passion and virtuosity, transports you to a world of love and graceful performance. This dance was born in the ports of the city among poor immigrants, gaucho cowboys, and other unsettled people. Initially, the dance was performed rather crudely by two men and was named from the Latin "tangere"—to touch. Over time, tango became slower and gained new tones of intimacy. Orchestras performing tango appeared. The dance quickly gained popularity, and today, tango is one of the most sensual dances on earth; it teaches sincerity, reminds men of gallantry, and women of tenderness. The restaurant's interior creates a tango atmosphere, and a menu of several traditional dishes with excellent Argentine wines will complement this romantic evening.

Day 9: Buenos Aires – Santiago, Chile

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Buenos Aires airport for your flight to Santiago. Upon arrival, a driver will meet you and take you to your hotel.

Day 10: Santiago, Chile

Breakfast at the hotel. You will enjoy a city tour with an English-speaking guide. The tour begins in the city center with a visit to the La Moneda government building, recognized as a historic monument. It was erected in 1799 during the final years of Spanish rule to house the royal mint and was built in the traditional neoclassical style. In the mid-19th century, the building was repurposed for the Chilean government, and since then, Palacio de La Moneda has been the residence of the country's government. Next, you will visit Plaza de Armas, Santiago's central square, where the history of the city began. The square is home to the Governor’s House of Chile, the Santiago Municipality, the Main Post Office, the Royal Audience building, and the Cathedral. Afterward, you will ascend Santa Lucia Hill, offering a magnificent panorama of the entire city. The tour continues with visits to the modern districts of Santiago: Vitacura, Las Condes, and Providencia, followed by a drive along the Mapocho River, where you will admire the majestic architecture of Santiago's main avenues. For an additional fee, you can visit the vineyards in the Maipo Valley with a wine tasting. The cost is $230 per person (minimum 2 people).

Day 11: Santiago, Chile – San Pedro de Atacama

You will have a transfer to the airport for your flight to Calama. From there, you will be transferred to San Pedro de Atacama, in the far north of Chile.

Day 12: San Pedro de Atacama – Uyuni (Bolivia, Jeep Tour)

We will head to the Bolivian border, where your 4x4 Jeep tour begins. The landscapes around you are of indescribable beauty, including the Green Lagoon (Laguna Verde) and a panoramic view of the Licancabur Volcano. You will pass through the Dali Desert with its monumental stone sculptures, the Polques Hot Springs, and the Sol de Mañana geysers. The sight of the active geysers is incredibly impressive, with thermal mud continuously erupting before your eyes. The next stop is Laguna Colorada, a red lake located at an altitude of 4,400 meters above sea level in Bolivia. Here, you will find a rare species of flamingo—James's flamingo—that come to this lake in search of a particular type of plankton, found here in abundance. You will spend the night in a desert hotel in an expedition-style setting. .

Day 13: Uyuni (Bolivia Jeep Tour through the Salt Flats)

Breakfast. Then we will head towards smaller but equally beautiful lagoons—Onda, Chiarkota, Hedionda, and Cañapa—with a stop at the viewpoint of Volcan Ollagüe. The volcano is still active, with smoke rising from its crater, creating a majestic sight. Next, your journey will take you to the Chiguana Salt Flats, which are notable for their large deposits of sodium and potassium nitrate, making them particularly unique. Finally, you will visit the largest salt flat on Earth, Salar de Uyuni. Located in the southern part of Bolivia on a high plateau at an altitude of 3,650 meters, its total area is about 11,000 square kilometers. In the center of the lake, the salt crust is up to 10 meters thick. During the dry season, the lake is a vast salt desert. The salt reserves here are estimated to be around 10 billion tons. During the rainy season, the lake is covered by a thin layer of water, creating the world's largest mirror. On the way to the Great Salt Valley of Uyuni, you will see how salt is extracted and processed in the town of Colchani. After that, you will visit a place called "Eyes of Water," where you can observe geological formations and the salt processing procedure. Next, on Fish Island, you will see several giant cacti and enjoy the view of the salt flats. Lunch (boxed lunch) is included. You will spend the night in the town of Uyuni.

Day 14: Uyuni – La Paz

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Uyuni airport for your flight to La Paz (the capital of Bolivia). Upon arrival, you will be met by a driver and transferred to your hotel. You will enjoy a city tour including a visit to the Witches' Market and historical landmarks (4 hours). Afterward, you will tour the Valley of the Moon—a unique place near La Paz that resembles lunar landscapes due to its unusual salt, sand, and rock formations created over thousands of years by water and wind erosion.

Day 15: La Paz – Tiwanaku – Puno – Uros Islands

We will head towards the Peruvian border, where the famous Lake Titicaca is located. On the way, we will visit the majestic ruins of Tiwanaku (1580 BC - 1000 AD)—all that remains of the Tiwanaku civilization, one of the oldest in South America. You will see the Sun Gate, the Kalasasaya Temple, and pyramids, as well as other remarkable monuments of the glorious past of the Tiwanaku culture. The Tiwanakans were skilled in agriculture, hydraulics, architecture, and medicine, as well as in social organization. Due to natural disasters, including prolonged periods of drought, the Tiwanaku civilization suffered a complete collapse at the end of the first millennium AD and mysteriously disappeared. The tour ends at the border with Peru in the town of Desaguadero, from where you will be transferred to your hotel in Puno. In the afternoon, you will take a trip to the Uros Islands (with an English-speaking guide), which are built from reeds. Here, the Aymara Indians live, having preserved their traditional way of life, customs, beliefs, and national costumes.

Day 16: Puno – Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the bus station for a group transfer to Cusco on a special tourist bus. Along the way, stops include Andahuaylillas - the Sistine Chapel of South America, and Raqchi - an Inca administrative structure. Lunch in Sicuani. Further stops at La Raya (4400 meters above sea level) with a roadside market and beautiful mountain views in the background, and Pukara - the center of the pre-Inca Pukara culture. In the evening, arrival at the Cusco bus station and transfer to the hotel.

Day 17: Cusco – Machu Picchu

Breakfast at the hotel. Full-day excursion to Machu Picchu - the "lost city of the Incas" in a group with an English-speaking guide. The most enlightened priests retreated to Machu Picchu after the fall of the Inca Empire, a city that the Spaniards never found. Machu Picchu was built from huge limestone blocks without mortar on top of a mountain surrounded by impenetrable jungle. It was discovered by American archaeologist Hiram Bingham only in 1911. Lunch included. Return to Cusco by train. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Day 18: Cusco – Lima

Breakfast at the hotel. City tour of Cusco with an English-speaking guide, including a visit to "Koricancha" (Temple of the Sun), where the Incas held their main ritual celebration - the winter solstice. Then visit four nearby ruins: the Q'enqo Temple, the red fortress of Puka Pukara, Tambomachay (a center of worship for water), and the architectural complex of Sacsayhuamán (religious structures, a fortress, towers, and canals built from huge boulders). After the tour, transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima, the capital of Peru. Arrival in Lima and transfer to the hotel.

Day 19: Lima

Breakfast at the hotel. City tour with an English-speaking guide. The tour begins with the Park of Love in Miraflores, offering a wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean. Then drive past the Huaca Pucllana, an Inca administrative and religious center. Continue to the main square, where the Presidential Palace and City Hall are located. Visit the Cathedral (or if closed, the Lima Art Museum - MALI) and walk to the Santo Domingo Monastery, where Saint Martin de Porres and Saint Rose of Lima walked in the 17th century and where their remains now lie. The tour ends with a visit to the Larco Museum, a unique mansion built on the foundation of a pre-Columbian pyramid from the 12th century. Here you can see treasures exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world, organized by techniques, and a unique collection of erotic pre-Columbian pottery figurines. Dear Anna, Alexandra, Iona and the rest of the team at Ada Tours
Feed-back from a happy, satisfied customer!
A very big thank you for your very efficient services, Hospitality and most importantly your patience throughout the tour of my client. Dr. Chrysantha Mendis is very happy with the entire Tour. You did a fantastic job by organizing a detailed tour package covering 7 countries, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil. Dr. Mendis has enjoyed all the countries though he could not do a few tours in Peru which is understandable due to political unrest. We will recommend Ada Tours to all our clients in Sri Lanka and will start promoting your tours in our website.
Best wishes and kind regards,
Shamali

Hi Anna, thank you for the update on the glasses. I’ll wait and see what happens! Alan and I are now back in the UK. We loved our trip to the Pantanal and Bonito. Our guide, Alessandra was brilliant with lots of knowledge and very considerate and helpful. The only hitch we had was on our flight back to Rio because the second leg of the trip was cancelled and we were rescheduled to a later plane and our luggage was mislaid. Fortunately it arrived in Rio a day later, before we flew home. Thank you for arranging the trip.
Best wishes Carol
