Chapada dos Veadeiros

If the South and Southeast have their mountains, Central Brazil has Chapadas - large planned areas dotted by hills with flat tops.

While the mountains have an alpine appeal that calls for a fireplace, fondue and wine, the Chapadas provide a more direct contact with nature, fueled by an esteemed mystical aura. Chapadas dwellings will always mention the energy of the place - concentrated in the geological and channeled formations, the water from the waterfalls and the purity of the air.

One of the four Chapadas in Brazil is the Chapada dos Veadeiros that count with three bases:

Long before it became a destination for waterfall hunters, Alto Paraíso de Goiás established itself as the main esoteric pole of the Central Plateau. It is not a homogeneous community - there they have rooted from adepts of natural life to practitioners of holistic therapies to sects that communicate with extraterrestrials. The village of São Jorge, which is on the doorstep of the National Park, is more hippie (and partying, in season) than zen. The third small town, Cavalcante, has no defined tribe - its biggest differential is being close to a quilombola community.

In common, the three bases offer a varied menu of waterfalls of all sizes and shapes, some easy to reach by car, others accessible only by trails. It is impossible to tick them all on one trip.
