Puerto Varas

Between Andean lakes and volcanoes, Puerto Varas is located on southern Chile, near Puerto Montt. The city was founded in the middle of the 19th century by German immigrants. In addition to standing out for Germanic traditions, which appear in architecture, cuisine and crafts, Puerto Varas is surrounded by stunning nature that enchants tourists from all over the world.
The urban center is relatively small and can be explored by foot. It skirts one end of Lake Llanquihue, the largest in the region. To the east, there are two volcanoes, Calbuco and the great Osorno, which give a majestic touch to the landscape.
In the surroundings, there is plenty of activity in the middle of nature. It is possible to go kayaking, ride a bicycle along the banks of the lake, or venture into extreme sports on the Petrohué River Falls, where the river flows through beautiful waterfalls in a small canyon.
Back in the center of Puerto Varas, stroll through the streets full of houses of German architecture, along the avenue by the lake and through the Phillipi Park, from where it is possible to have a beautiful view of the city.
