Belize City
It's said that Belize City was built on a foundation of wood chips, coral, and empty rum bottles. Whether or not that's true, this city of 80,000 people certainly has a storied past. Over the centuries, it's served as a Maya settlement, a pirate stronghold, a British logging town, and the British Empire's Central American seat of power. More recently, it was the capital of the country until Belmopan took the title in 1970. Surrounded by the Caribbean Sea on three sides, Belize City comprises faded Victorian mansions, cinderblock buildings, and traditional Creole eateries. It's divided in two by Haulover Creek. The northern side is home to popular sights like the Fort George Lighthouse, the Museum of Belize, and the Baron Bliss Memorial; the south side is an urban rigmarole of banks, businesses, and markets.
Meet & Greet Service
Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by a Viaventure representative who will be holding a board with your name. Note that due to airport regulations at the Belize International Airport, representatives waiting to meet arrivals are not permitted to enter the airport and must wait to greet guests outside of the airport. Upon collecting your luggage and completing customs & immigration you must proceed to the airport exit where you will be met. This is also applicable for guests who are being met but who have an onward domestic flight from the same airport which is the case for this itinerary.
San Pedro (Ambergris Caye)
The largest of Belize's islands, Ambergris Caye runs parallel to the magnificent Belize Barrier Reef. Once home to the ancient Maya (they created the island by digging a channel between it and Mexico), Ambergris is located 56 kilometers (35 miles) northeast of Belize City and is accessible by boat or plane. It's a popular destination for diving, snorkeling, sailing, fishing, kayaking, and windsurfing; trips to nearby Caye Caulker and the mainland are easy to plan, too. Formerly a fishing village, San Pedro is the island's only town; its sandy streets are lined with waterfront restaurants, hotels, tiki bars, and dive shops. Visitors to Ambergris should note that in order to protect the caye's natural environment, Belizean law prohibits the removal of coastal sea grass. Properties do their best to clean up grass that washes up on shore, but it's not uncommon to find a bit of sea green next to your cold bottle of Belikin.

Blue Hole Flyover Tour from San Pedro Ambergris (Collective/1Hr) – Only Tuesdays & Thursdays
The only way to truly appreciate the immense beauty of The Great Blue Hole is from the air. The Blue Hole is nearly a perfect circle of sparkling sapphire-blue water that only hints at its incredible depth of about 124 metres (407 ft). Home to nurse sharks, bull sharks, Caribbean reef sharks, and other exotic sea life, this underwater cavern contains stalactites formed more than 153,000 years ago. It's no wonder that the Discovery Channel named the Great Blue Hole number one on its list, -"The 10 Most Amazing Places on Earth." This remarkable journey takes off from San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, or Caye Caulker at 11:00AM, rising above the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea to fly along the Atlantic's largest living barrier reef. The flight passes historic St. George's Caye and some of the world's best coral dive areas - Turneffe Atoll, Half Moon Caye (a national monument and marine life reserve), and the Lighthouse Reef Atoll - before making several sweeping passes over the magnificent Great Blue Hole. Finally, the tour returns to San Pedro or Caye Caulker, flying first over Northern Two Caye and then near Rocky Point on North Ambergris Caye. Aerial views of Glovers Reef, the Booby Bird Sanctuary, shipwrecks, manatees, and more will also captivate guests of all ages during this 1 hour tour.
Activity Includes: Blue Hole flyover on Tropic Air from Caye Caulker or San Pedro, rider fee.
